We at Clevry are looking for Patent Portfolio-Engineering Trainee for our client Nokia Technologies. The position is a part to full-time position with the minimum expectation of 40% per week and 12 months’ fixed term employment. The trainee may work flexibly up to 100% per week and during summer 2023 a full time employment may be needed. The starting date is during April or May 2023 and you’ll be employed directly to Nokia Technologies.
In this position the trainee will provide support to patenting team members in the review and prosecution process of new inventions and patent applications. Tasks include general correspondence work, preparing, compiling, and tailoring e-mails to inventors and experts, reviewing the Official Actions and preparing proposals for responses, and further reviews of allowed patent applications. Trainees are encouraged to input to the improvement and development of the used processes and tools.
We are looking for candidates pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering and/or Economics. The candidate is expected to have some knowledge in technology relating to telecommunications, mobile, Internet and software area and/or technology-oriented background. Some knowledge in radio technology would be an asset. Further we see that the open minded and proactive attitude as well as desire to learn is highly appreciated.
About the client
Nokia Technologies is focused on licensing valuable Nokia intellectual property, including patents, technologies and the Nokia brand. Building on decades of innovation and R&D leadership in technologies used in virtually all mobile devices used today, Nokia Technologies is expanding our patent licensing business, reintroducing the Nokia brand to consumers through brand licensing, and establishing a technology licensing business.
The main responsibilities are
- Providing support to patenting team members in the review and prosecution process of new inventions and patent applications
- General correspondence work, preparing, compiling and tailoring e-mails to inventors and experts
- Reviewing Office Actions and preparing proposals for responses, and further reviewing allowed patent applications
- Portfolio assessment and maintenance including investigation of usage in Nokia and 3rd party products and standards, classification of the portfolio and portfolio mining.
This is what we are looking for:
- Studies in the required fields, current Master’s or advanced Bachelor’s student.
- Strong and positive interpersonal skills and a proactive and diligent approach to accomplishing tasks.
- Fluency in both written and oral English and excellent communication skills.
- Strong initiative, analytical skills and the ability to develop creative solutions.
- Previous work experience in the applicable field or in an international setting is a plus.
- Outstanding competence in Microsoft Office tools (outlook, word, excel and power point)
- Experiences in patent mining in public patent database
