We at Clevry are looking for a Data Science / Analytics Trainee for our client Nokia Technologies. The position that we are looking to fill is a part to full-time position with the minimum expectation of 60% per week and 12 months fixed-term employment, starting as soon as possible.
Patent Analytics team is a key function in Nokia Technology which is responsible for providing and further developing analytics to support the management of our world-leading patent portfolio.
As a Data Science / Analytics Trainee you will be involved in building Natural Language Processing (NLP) based solutions to extract targeted strings in unstructured text from technical documents, that are required to be further analyzed to support requirements for patent portfolio management system.
We are interested in candidates at the end of Master’s studies in software engineering or data science or another related field. The candidate is expected to have proficiency with Python programming and experience with NLP techniques, regular expressions, and data wrangling. Familiarity with Machine learning methods and their respective applications in NLP tasks such as document similarity detection, and document classification is considered a benefit. Further, we see that strong initiative, analytical skills, and the ability to develop creative solutions are highly appreciated.

Nokia Technologies is focused on licensing valuable Nokia intellectual property, especially patents, technologies, and the Nokia brand. Building on decades of innovation and R&D leadership in technologies used in virtually all mobile devices used today, Nokia Technologies is expanding its patent licensing business, reintroducing the Nokia brand to consumers through brand licensing, and developing and licensing innovative technologies.
The main responsibilities are
- Development of NLP-based solutions for data extraction from unstructured text data and collaboration with other team members
- Implementation of data retrieval and text cleaning process from relation database using Python programming language.
This is what we are looking for
- Current master’s student in data science or software engineering field
- Proficiency with Python programming language and ability to write clean reproducible code
- Experience of working with Python Natural Language Processing (NLP) toolkits (specifically NLTK Spacy and Gensim python packages)
- Knowledge and experience in applying Regular Expressions (Regex) in tasks such as data pre-processing, rule-based information mining, pattern matching, text feature engineering, data extraction, etc.
- Knowledge of working with relational databases (e.g., SQL query)
- Fluency in both oral and written English
- Strong initiative, analytical skills, and the ability to develop creative solutions
